Pilates is a great full body exercise regime and the use of Pilates equipment ensures that you are using the right muscles to do the right movements for each exercise.

At The Pilates Workshop we create a personalised programme for each client, specifically designed to strengthen and stretch certian muscles and joints in order to improve posture, and achieve their fitness goals.

Our Studio Pilates classes ensure careful individual supervision is maintained for each client, using top of the range Balanced Body Pilates equipment.

Claire O'Brien

Claire has always had a keen interest in the human body, how it moves, and how to achieve optimal performance from it. As a chronic asthmatic, and having had breathing difficulties since childhood, Claire has found the Pilates Method extremely beneficial in dealing with the triggers and symptoms of her asthma.

After completing an Undergraduate Degree in Applied Science (Human Biology) Claire moved to Sydney where she trained as a Pilates instructor with Pilates International Training Centre. Upon returning to New Zealand she completed a Masters of Osteopathy.

Throughout her career Claire has had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients ranging from childrento teenage athletes, new mothers, clients wishing to enhance specific sports related endeavors and the elderly.

Claire is the first Osteopath ever to become a Pink Pilates Certified Instructor, and is looking forward to helping women with cancer regain their strength.

An area of particular interest is post-operative rehabilitation from spinal surgery, and total knee replacement. Claire has also conducted extensive research into how Pilates can help chronic low back pain as this was the focus of her Masters research project and thesis.
